Small Business Growth Academy (SBGA)

Grow to Scale. Strengthen Communities. Drive Local Economic Growth.

An umbrella of small business services—streamlined for growth. The Small Business Growth Academy (SBGA) is an execution-focused business growth program designed to help small businesses move from survival to sustainability, growth, and long-term success.
SBGA provides small business owners with practical tools, structured guidance, mentorship, and accountability to strengthen operations, improve visibility, increase customer engagement, and prepare for future growth opportunities. Unlike a traditional training program, SBGA is built around implementation. Participants do not simply learn business concepts — they apply them directly to their businesses in real time.

What SBGA Offers

SBGA serves as an umbrella of small business services streamlined for growth. The program brings together key areas of business development into one coordinated framework, including:
  • Financial management and business systems
  • Marketing and customer acquisition
  • Business operations and efficiency
  • Growth strategy and planning
  • Business performance and growth mindset
  • Leadership & Entrepreneur Well-Being
  • AI and digital tools for business growth
  • Mentorship, coaching, and accountability
Through this hands-on model, business owners receive the support needed to make informed decisions, strengthen internal systems, and build a stronger foundation for sustainable growth.

Who SBGA Supports

SBGA is designed for small businesses at various stages of development, including:
  • Existing businesses seeking stronger operations and increased visibility
  • Businesses struggling with customer demand or market engagement
  • Growth-ready businesses preparing to scale
  • Businesses seeking to become more funding- or grant-ready
  • Emerging entrepreneurs who need a structured pathway for future growth

A Practical, Results-Driven Approach

SBGA is centered on action, accountability, and measurable progress. Participants engage in structured learning, apply what they learn through assignments, receive mentorship and coaching, and complete a capstone project focused on their business growth. Each participant works toward developing a practical growth plan that may include operational improvements, financial strategies, marketing actions, customer engagement goals, and next steps for expansion.

Program Structure

SBGA is typically delivered as a six-month experience: Phase 1: Program Delivery
Participants complete structured training sessions focused on core business growth areas. Sessions are designed to be practical, accessible, and application-based. Phase 2: Mentorship and Coaching
Participants receive continued support through mentorship, coaching, progress tracking, and milestone check-ins to help them implement what they have learned. Capstone Project
Each business completes a growth-focused capstone project that demonstrates readiness, planning, and the ability to apply SBGA tools and strategies.

Regional Business Growth Model

SBGA can be delivered as a regional cohort model, bringing businesses from multiple communities together while still tailoring support to local needs. This approach encourages peer learning, strengthens business networks, and creates opportunities for broader regional economic impact. Through a shared structure and customized application, businesses learn together while developing strategies that reflect their own customer base, market conditions, and community priorities.

Expected Impact

SBGA is designed to create impact at the business, community, and regional levels. Participating businesses can benefit from:
  • Stronger financial and operational systems
  • Improved marketing and customer engagement
  • Greater visibility in the marketplace
  • Increased use of digital tools and AI
  • Greater readiness for funding and growth opportunities
  • Improved long-term sustainability
Communities can benefit from:
  • Stronger business retentions
  • Increased local spending and foot traffic
  • More resilient commercial districts
  • Better alignment between business offerings and community needs
  • A stronger, more connected small business ecosystem

Why SBGA Matters

Small businesses are essential to local economic vitality. However, many business owners need more than one-time training or fragmented support. They need structure, strategy, tools, and consistent guidance to help them move forward. SBGA provides that structure. By combining training, implementation, mentorship, and accountability, SBGA helps small businesses become more prepared, more resilient, and better positioned to grow.

Partner With SBGA

SBGA works with municipalities, economic development organizations, financial institutions, community partners, foundations, and sponsors interested in strengthening small businesses and supporting local economic growth. Through collaborative partnerships, SBGA can be tailored to meet the needs of individual communities, regional initiatives, grant programs, and business development strategies.

Move From Learning to Growth

SBGA is more than a program — it is a structured pathway for small business growth. We look forward to working with partners and business owners who are ready to build stronger businesses, strengthen local economies, and create lasting impact.
